The Intimate Passion: Audition - Crazyspace, Los Angeles, Flophouse Festival, June 6, 2003

This is the first part /half of a six hour performance which happened over two nights for a duration performance festival. Live music both nights was created by Lob and Dr. O. This night was deep fun explicit soft erotic warm juicy sweaty tribal intimate. Who knows what happened during the day between the two parts, but by the end of the second night the woman who brought us there would hardly talk to me. In this video she is one of the juicy nudes. Go figure!

"Wrapping/Rocking" - January 14, 1989, Berkeley, California

Well, this is really playing with reality. Up to this point we hadn't filmed what happened in THE CAVE because the blindfolded audience members did vulnerable intimate acts while in the cave. But this time we were doing the whole performance for a Los Angeles film crew. And "the audience" were really actors! But the film crew didn't show up! So we shot this ourselves. The first part is in the lobby full of straight actors there for a casting call /audition. I gave each a character to play [I do believe in type casting] and gave them general directions. Then I disappeared into the performance space. The nude dancers then blindfolded each actor and led each into the performance space. The question: did they transform from actors to an actual audience?

Fuck The War Ball - John The Baker & Frank Moore

Recorded at Burnt Ramen, Richmond, California, November 17, 2001

This was earlier in the show that climaxed with Extreme Elvis and me. Here John the Baker and I sang such Songs as FUCK THE FASCIST USA and CRACK BABY. We had to handle a screaming heckler who ended up coming to my performances over the years since!

The Uncomfortable Zones Of Fun, July 23, 2011

Recorded at Temescal Arts Center, Oakland, California.

This was one of the most sexy, erotic, warm, juicy performances we ever did! Everybody participated, nobody left, a lot of nude dancing including a contortionist! What more could I want?! Aaahhhh, how can you tell if a performance was a success? Well, Saturday’s performance was the longest night in the two+ years of the Temescal series. And nobody left during the performance, which is probably a first in my forty years of doing performances. And when it was over, nobody wanted to leave. But that is usual. The audience was a real mix of straight and underground creatures in the full range. But everybody ended up nude, except for the former professor who had just been in the hospital. Even he said the performance loosened and opened him up. He provided the music for most of the night. A newspaper called the series a “variety.” I call that newspaper PSYCHIC because we even had a contortionist who did their [they didn’t liked the pronouns SHE and HER, preferring THEY /THEM] dance, which was actually one of the things I always have wanted in a performance. THEY actually danced twice… Once dressed… And then nude, pushing /risking THEMSELF while Nat sang and the professor played guitar. This risking dance rooted /anchored everything, made everything that came afterwards possible… Two Brothers rocking nude together for hours, the straight tree guy rocking nude on my lap… The whole room doing a very juicy explicit ritual of GESTURES [there are always surprises for me… Like I didn’t think LICK EACH OTHER’S EARS would be a controversial gesture, but what do I know?]… The whole room evolving into an explicit ritual of music making juicy fun dancing which all [including the corporate finance guy] melted into together. I pushed the explicit because the two booking women were there and I wanted to get everything out on the table so that we will have freedom to go even further in the future there. They loved it!

"No Tongue Will Live To Speak, No Ears Will Yearn To Hear" Performance, Sept. 16, 1994

This is the only video of the plays I have directed, actual plays as opposed to performance art. It was shot before there were cheap low light cameras. It was dark back then, THE DARK AGES! We have lightened it up digitally.

"No Tongue Will Live To Speak, No Ears Will Yearn To Hear" Rehearsal, Late July, 1994 [NO SOUND]

Written by Distant Eagle. Directed by Frank Moore. Camera by Tim Plummer.

Still another rehearsal!

This is another rehearsal.

"No Tongue Will Live To Speak, No Ears Will Yearn To Hear" Rehearsal, July 9, 1994

This is a rehearsal from when I directed a play by a native American chief Distant Eagle. The play was about a tribe which is infected with a deadly virus when one of the members comes back from the "civilized" world. This tape shows, among other things, how I used nude rituals in the
rehearsal setting to create a reality of a tribal intimacy within the cast.

Frank Moore's Shaman's Den - Penny Arcade

Recorded March 8, 2009, Berkeley, California.

This is an episode of my live internet streaming video show, THE SHAMAN'S DEN, on my internet station, On this Penny Arcade and I talked deeply about how to cause trouble in the underground as misfit performance artists as a lifetime calling and have fun doing it!

Friction Of Passion Pleasure

Center for Sex & Culture, San Francisco, California, July 16, 2011

Actually this snapshot says it all about our latest performance!

Dave Swan's Doghouse featuring Frank Moore

Well, in the nineties, Dave Swan had a hip popular takeoff of THE TONIGHT SHOW on the San Francisco public access cable channel. On this episode Linda and I were the guests. Everything went fine until I did my song. Then things took a messy turn... Chocolate, whipped cream, whips, blood, guts, nude dancers, naked monsters! Unfortunately Dave was killed, ripped apart right on camera! But it was a great show, which is all that matters really!

The Living Couple

Recorded September 29, 1986, Berkeley, California.
In this workshop version which was a couple of months after the first experiment, we see how the piece has evolved.

Erotic Friction

Center for Sex and Culture, San Francisco, California, April 17, 2010.

Ah, if you don’t do your best work when you are performing at THE CENTER FOR SEX AND CULTURE where there is a deep base, community, spiritual environment of freedom and exploring, you might reconsider your life work! And the physical theater there is designed to promote a cozy intimacy. This is not to say there are not special issues when you are performing in such an erotic institute of freedom. Like a lot of the people came in with crusts of sexual hip images. These would have blocked going deep within one another. But they very quickly shed these crusts. We then had a cozy room of adventurers who were willing to play softly and be silly together, floating together wherever the performance took us. They took personal responsibility for wanting to go wherever the performance went.

This caused the night to be one movement flowing freely from one port of call to the other as if we just discovered a different level of where we were just exploring. Usually I just keep throwing out bits and see what catches. But last night it was so smooth! Of course Tomek’s music lubricated everything. But that is always what I depend upon! Last night I may have had one or two or more great plants. That always makes my job a lot easier! But mainly it was the people who came. Actually we ran out of time to get into EROTIC FRICTION. This is why I in my younger days did forty-eight hour performances, and why I do series of performances.

Playing With Reality, 1988, Part 1

This is about six hours of a twenty-four hour workshop. My work comes out of the workshop setting. This video is really a rich novel which gets more erotic and intimate as time peels away inhibitions and masks. Some of the characters in this novel are the diva who has a nervous breakdown, Carlos who is literally dying from AIDS as we filmed, a macho business tranny, a sexy film maker who puts her body into her art, etc. This is a raw epic of tribal intimacy!

Playing With Reality, 1988, Part 2

In the continuing of the workshop /novel, things get much more erotic and intimate and primitive, going through uncomfortable ritual processes of evolution, of birth, death and rebirth into the tribal body of Lila.

Jean Harlow and Billy The Kid

Recorded 9/21/86, Berkeley, California.

This is my workshop riff on the beat poet Michael McClure's play, THE BEARD. Btw, McClure has confessed to being my fan!

The Odd Couple

Workshop at Walden School, Berkeley, California with Jonathan and Suzanna, July 1986.

This is the workshop version of the piece which outraged both the cast and the audience when we did it in Los Angeles. It is still extremely politically incorrect... But it is so warm and tender and intimate!

Going Deep To The Core At Ramen #24

This was an especially erotic trance jam!
